PRESENTEDBY RETAIL SPACE
— Inspired from the water
Client: Avolta / Presentedby
Design: External Reference
Engineering: LAMÁQUINA
3D Printing: LAMÁQUINA
This retail space reimagines the intersection of computational design, robotic fabrication and circular materials.
Marking the third collaboration with External Reference and Presentedby, this 3D-printed interior is located at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. The design by External Reference draws inspiration from the movement of water. The concept is materialised through undulating walls that display the products, and a centerpiece featuring a cantilevered geometry.
To achieve this sense of motion through organic forms, the production employed non-planar 3D printing techniques. The project consists of 94 pieces –some of which reach a height of up to 2.5 metres– engineered for dry assembly and manufactured with 70% recycled plastic. Rendered in different gradations of blue that fade into white as the interior architecture rises in height.
This retail concept received the Platinum Award at the 2025 London Design Awards for its blend of style, identity, and innovation in a single space.
