LAMÁQUINA’s work for the PINKO retail space at the Rome Fumicino Airport has been highlighted at the Rhino3dzine as an example of how “parametric design, robotic fabrication, and sustainable materials can converge to create spaces that are efficient, beautiful, and adaptable to the most demanding contexts.”
ASSEMBLY WITHIN AN AIRPORT
The project conceived by External Reference Architects was engineered with Rhino and Grasshopper, and robotically manufactured by LAMÁQUINA. Despite being limited to just three days for on-site assembly due to stringent airport regulations, the team delivered a modular, lightweight and highly precise design. LAMÁQUINA achieved this by devising an efficient fabrication strategy, completing all components within two weeks. Beyond this achievement, the project also complies with BS1DO fire safety regulations while meeting circular economy principles.
