Alliance between LAMÁQUINA & HMY
May 7, 2025Building a large-scale fabrication network.

LAMÁQUINA has partnered with HMY Group, one of the largest manufacturers of retail spaces, to expand the application of 3D printing. This alliance establishes a large-scale digital fabrication network that relies on transferring digital data rather than physical objects.
EXPANDING
3D PRINTING
Bringing advanced technologies to the retail industry
By integrating 3D printing processes into HMY’s production facilities, challenging geometries can now be materialised efficiently without compromising on quality. This partnership also opens up new options within the HMY catalogue, offering a wide range of solutions and increasing the capacity of their facilities. The added materials and finishes create opportunities for production using recycled materials such as plastics and cellulose, as well as biodegradable ones like wood, introducing more sustainable options. LAMÁQUINA can therefore extend its know-how to a wider clientele, bringing advanced technologies to the retail industry.

LARGE-SCALE
CUSTOMISATION
Reduced costs and high efficiency
The high level of customisation in the process allows for the manufacturing of singular pieces with complex designs and enhanced performance properties. Beyond design flexibility, this methodology also gives the opportunity to produce at reduced costs thanks to its efficiency. HMY has analysed the costs: a 3D printing column casing costs nearly a third of traditional manufacturing while allowing the use of recyclable, recycled materials. Moreover, the ecological footprint is also substantially beneficial as CO2 emissions are reduced to a tenth of conventional methods. Waste is also minimised, with only 5% of the materials being discarded, a much lower rate than the usual 40% of traditional production. With these processes, low costs don’t come at the expense of sustainability.

This collaboration marks a milestone in integrating 3D printing into large-scale manufacturing. LAMÁQUINA and HMY are not only redefining design possibilities but also setting standards in environmental responsibility and cost-effectiveness in the retail sector. Big manufacturing doesn’t need to outsource advanced processes anymore, it can now directly integrate in-house innovation.
